Welcome

Greetings from Ms. Van Ells!

I am so glad you came to visit my New Zealand and Mongolia blog. I am writing this in May (well before my July 13 depature) so that I can introduce you to the site and how blogs work before the school year ends. Between now and July 13, I will be doing lots of preparation for my trip by visiting my local library and reading books about New Zealand and Mongolia. I will write posts reviewing some of the books I have been reading so be sure to check back for book recommendations. I will also share some of the websites I visit to prepare for my trip. Please write comments and questions and I will try to respond as best I can.

Happy Reading,
Ms. Van Ells

  1. Is the book the red blazer girls good? Do you recommend it for us? How long is it? From Jamie and Elana

  3. I just started reading and am enjoying it so far. The main characters are students at an all girls private school who form a detective "club". They have a lot in common with girls here and the story is fast paced so I think you would like it. I will be getting a copy for our library tonight so check back tomorrow if you want to check it out.

  5. I will be traveling quite a bit, with time in the North island and the South island. We will be visiting quite a few schools in Rotorua, Wellington and Christchurch, which promises to be very interesting. I am looking forward to checking out their libraries! I will certainly be taking lots of pictures and will likely snag pics from my travel mate as well. The scenery promises to be spectacular.

  7. Hi Ms.Van Ells,
I read a book called Anne Frank Beyond the Diary. It's a great and sad story about a 15 year old girl who died in Bergen Belsen at 15 years old. She went into hiding. You should read about Margot too.

  24. I will be leaving on July 13. we have a pre-departure orientation in Hawaii then we head to New Zealand. We will travel in both the North and South Islands of New Zealand. We then head to Beijing for a day in transit to Mongolia. I will post more about my itinerary soon.

  25. That is a tough one as I am excited about both countries. New Zealand is known for its natural beauty and I am looking forward to the mountains and the beaches. I am also excited to learn about the Maori culture. I don't know what to expect from Mongolia. Mongolia is a big unknown for me and since I love to learn new things, I am really excited to get to know more about Mongolia and her people.
